home theater systems
Select the appropriate screen size
Your eyes will help you to do this the best way, but a useful rule is that diagonal size should not exceed more than half the distance at which you sit. This means that with a 42-inch TV you should not look closer than two meters.
Look for HDMI or component video input
This kind of input will allow you to connect HD progressive-scan sources that will result in the best possible picture. The TV should also have composite and S-Video inputs for sources such as the old video player
Select Progressive Scan
Today it is already difficult to find a DVD player that has progressive scan, which produces a sharper picture with no flickering. But the TV you use should have a component input that supports progressive scan. HD Blu-ray players will give you even better picture, but they will also need a component input – the best would be the HDMI input. Blu-ray makes your home theater system a great option for your room.
Think of the player with more discs
Home theater systems (DVD or CD player) who may have multiple drives allows you to, at the same time, watch a movie and listen to several music CDs in it.
Maybe important: Disc formats supported
Today’s home theater systems are a lot more than just reproducing the picture with the DVD. Apart from films, even the cheapest players today reads music discs and CD-R and CD-RW discs with music recordings. Usually play music in MP3 format on CD-R and CD-RW drives and video recorded on at least one of the DVD formats (DVD-R/RW, DVD + R / RW, DVD-RAM). Some more expensive models play DVD-Audio or SACD music discs. The best players in the market supports the new high-definition video disc format, Blu-ray.
Start with three speakers
If you cannot afford the full surround-sound system, start with the central, left and right speaker. You can always add a subwoofer later, and the satellite speakers if you want the full surround sound. If you want your own home theater system, you have to put subwoofer in front of you for the best sound.
Important: The amount of speaker
How many speakers do you really need? For a complete surround-sound feeling from DVD or from HDTV you need five to seven speakers, but for a slightly better player you’ll probably want the subwoofer (to get a strong, deep bass)
Look for 100 watts
Receiver, which produces 100 watts per channel will be more than enough for most home theater systems.
Look for Dolby Digital support
Be sure to buy a receiver that has Dolby Digital decoder. Dolby Pro Logic II is also highly desirable in order to produce surround sound from the video tape and ordinary music sources such as CD.Is up to you to decide whether to set a home theater systems on Dolby pro logic II or not.
Now, when everything is set up, sit back and enjoy!
